Training

Due to the popularity of the WRYT and the high number of members, we now run two separate training sessions, one for our newer members and one for our established members.

Established members ("WRYT Group 1") meet at "The North Eastern" Training Room, WRYT Coach 5226, platform 3, Stanhope Railway Station, every Friday, commencing at 6.30pm and ending at 8.30pm.

Newer members ("WRYT Group 2") meet at The Weardale Railway Meeting Room, Bishop Auckland Railway Station, every Saturday, commencing at 6.30pm and ending at 8.30pm.

On Fridays the WRYT minibus provides transportation from Bishop Auckland Station to Stanhope Station, picking up at Crook, Wolsingham and Frosterley enroute. The minibus departs Bishop Auckland at 6pm and arrives back at approx 9pm

New members will be given the opportunity to catch up on sessions missed. The Training Officer will make arrangements for these additional sessions.

The training program covers:- The Rule Book, Personal Track Safety, history of the Weardale Railway, Standard Operating Procedures, rolling stock, roles within the Weardale Railway, Diversity and an overview of the national network including geography and train companies.
